The application for a permanent resident permit within the Hungarian Residency Bond program starts for real with signing the contract, transferring the EUR 250,000 investment sum together with the EUR 40,000 government processing fee, and submitting all relevant documents for the main applicants and their family members. However, if this is not arranged by 1st December, the family members of the main applicant cannot apply in December together with him/her, but only later, through family unification.
Hungarian authorities usually take ca. 2 weeks to process resident permit applications after the submission of documents. Family members usually submit their applications together with the main applicant, this way the whole family gets the permits at the same time. However, December will be a “short month” in Hungary, meaning that governmental offices will finish work on 19th December (Friday), and open only on 5th January (Monday) due to the holidays. This way the time for application shortens.
As a result, there will not be enough time for them to process the applications for whole families, only for the several individual “last minute” applicants. Accordingly, applicants who submit their documents, including those certifying the money transfer, after 1st December, cannot apply for resident permits for their family members just now.
Don’t worry! You can still bring your family, but they will not apply together with you. Instead, they can apply for resident permits when you already have your own permit, through “family unification”. This way HELPERS can ensure that you still get the package with the 2014 investment value (EUR 250,000), while you can also bring your family.
Please note that, starting from January 2015, your family can again apply the same time as you, but then already the new prices (EUR 300,000 investment + EUR 60,000 government processing fee) will be valid.
