However, some restrictions remain; <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/helpers.hu\/es\/covid\/state-of-emergency-over-in-hungary-some-restrictions-remain\/\" target=\"_blank\">read more here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Partial travel ban lift for some countries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Citizens of the following countries are allowed to enter Hungary as of 1 May 2020 when travelling <strong>for business purposes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Austria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Czech Republic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Germany<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slovakia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>South Korea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon entering Hungary, citizens of these countries will be required to verify the purpose of their travel, which must be a business purpose. Travel related to tourism remains prohibited even for citizens of the above listed countries until further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update: As of 22 May,<\/strong> citizens of <strong>Austria <\/strong>may enter Hungary if they are not infected with that coronavirus, which they can prove by showing their negataive test results for the SARS-CoV-2, written either in English or Hungarian, received within the last 4 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update: As of 25 May<\/strong>, citizens of <strong>Serbia <\/strong>and Hungary, as well as Hungarian permanent residency card holders may enter Hungary from Serbia and do not have to self-quarantine unless they show symptoms of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update: As of 28 May<\/strong>, citizens of <strong>Slovenia <\/strong>and Hungary, as well as Hungarian permanent residency card holders may enter Hungary from Slovenia and do not have to self-quarantine unless they show symptoms of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update: As of 5 June<\/strong>, citizens of <strong>Austria<\/strong>, the <strong>Czech Republic<\/strong>, <strong>Slovakia <\/strong>and Hungary, as well as Hungarian permanent residency card holders may enter Hungary from these countries <strong>without restrictions<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update: As of 7 June<\/strong>, citizens of <strong>Germany <\/strong>and Hungary, as well as Hungarian permanent residency card holders may enter Hungary from Germany <strong>without restrictions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update: As of 12 June<\/strong>, citizens of <strong>Croatia <\/strong>and Hungary, as well as Hungarian permanent residency card holders may enter Hungary from Croatia <strong>without restrictions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update: As of 17 June<\/strong>, citizens of <strong>Romania <\/strong>and Hungary, as well as Hungarian permanent residency card holders may enter Hungary from Romania <strong>without restrictions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel restrictions in Hungary to support social distancing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the most effective method for reducing the\nspread of a highly infectious disease without a reliable cure is to reduce\ncontact between people, the EU decided to <a href=\"https:\/\/helpers.hu\/es\/covid\/handling-the-covid-19-epidemic-in-hungary\/\">close the Schengen borders<\/a> as of 17 March, meaning that non-EU citizens cannot\ntravel to the EU since then. In line with this, Hungary also closed the\nHungarian borders before anyone who is not<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a<br>Hungarian citizen,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a<br>close family member of a Hungarian citizen,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an<br>EEA citizen holding a permanent residence card,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an<br>EEA citizen holding an EEA registration card and a Hungarian address card,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a<br>diplomat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This list is now extended with citizens of the countries listed above. In other cases, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.police.hu\/en\/impress\">Hungarian Police<\/a> may grant you entry to Hungary if they decide you have a valid reason to enter the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>As of 13 May<\/strong>, the Police accepts <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"entry applications only online (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/ugyintezes.police.hu\/en\/home\" target=\"_blank\">entry applications only online<\/a>, in Hungarian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social distancing in Hungary as of May<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/magyarkozlony.hu\/?year=&amp;page=1\">latest regulations<\/a> specify some changes to restrictions as of 1 May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Everyone is required to wear a mask AND keep a distance of 1.5 meters from one another when using public transport or entering a shop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elderly people are asked to limit leaving their homes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People above 65 may continue to shop during the protected period of 9 a.m. \u2013 noon each day, when no one under 65 may enter shops or markets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parking remains free all over Hungary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mass events are canceled at least until 15 August.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Budapest is considered to pose a higher risk of a coronavirus outbreak, since more than 2 million people live, and even more people work here. As a result, there is a <strong>travel ban for those living in Budapest<\/strong>, as they cannot make trips to other parts of Hungary. Moreover, some restrictions remain in place in Budapest and Pest county, but are <strong>loosened in the rest of Hungary<\/strong>. Accordingly, outside Budapest and Pest county:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open-air facilities may open for patrons. These include beaches, zoos, open-air spas and museums, and open-air spaces (e.g. garden patios) of restaurants, caf\u00e9s, and hotels. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shops may remain open without a time limit (in Budapest and Pest, they still must close at 3 p.m.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restrictions to private healthcare are lifted as of 4 May.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restriction to public healthcare will be lifted gradually.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update: As of 18 May<\/strong>, the same rules apply to Budapest and Pest county as to the rest of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Any questions?
