Do you have employees on minimum wage? Read on!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A minimum\nwage is the lowest remuneration<\/a> employers\nmay legally pay to workers. When we speak about minimum wage, we must\ndifferentiate between the following two groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Minimum wage is what\nthose employees must receive whose job does not require any specific skills.\nThis will be raised from gross HUF 149,000 to gross HUF 161,000 as of 1 <\/sup>January.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Guaranteed minimum\nsalary is what those employees must receive whose position requires at least\nsecondary education. This will be raised from gross HUF 195,000 to gross HUF 210,600\nas of 1 January.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Please note that if this\nconcern your employees, the gross salary must be modified in the employment\ncontracts as of 1 January.     Salary calculation in 2020<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    In the table below, you\ncan see the basic calculations for the minimum wage and the guaranteed minimum\nsalary in 2020. We have also added a third amount, for HUF 250,000 net for\ncomparison.     The gross salary<\/strong> is what you usually agree\non with your employee, and what you put in the labor contract. Employees have\nto pay taxes and contributions from that (these are the employee\u2019s payroll\ntaxes), which your company deducts and forwards to the authorities for your\nemployees. This way only the net\nsalary<\/strong> is paid to the employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Moreover, your company will have to pay\ncontributions for employing someone. These are called employer\u2019s taxes<\/strong>. The\nsum containing the gross salary (net salary + employee\u2019s taxes) and the\nemployer\u2019s taxes is the total\ncompany cost<\/strong>. This is what any given employee actually costs\nyour company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Hungarian minimum\nwage will increase to HUF 161,000, and the guaranteed minimum salary to HUF 210,600\nas of 1 January. The managing director\u2019s salary or the base of the minimum\ncontributions also follow this increase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
