It typically a document issued by your bank, concerning money in a current account or savings account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In some cases of Hungarian residency applications, a proof of funds is the same as a <strong>proof of financial security<\/strong>, because it shows that you have the means to support yourself while you are in Hungary. For example, it can show you have a regular income from employment or a business, or that you have inherited a large sum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A \u201cproof of funds\u201d is <strong>not to be confused with a proof that you have made an investment<\/strong> in a <a href=\"https:\/\/helpers.hu\/es\/permiso-de-residencia\/invest-in-a-real-estate-fund-and-get-hungarian-residency-for-10-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">real estate fund<\/a>, which is just one of the investment residency options in the <a href=\"https:\/\/helpers.hu\/hungarian-investment-immigration-program\/investment-options-in-the-hungarian-golden-visa-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hungarian Golden Visa Program<\/a>. That is referred to as an <strong>investment certificate<\/strong>, and you will need it only later in the procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proof of funds in the Hungarian Golden Visa Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding the Hungarian Golden Visa program, a proof of funds is a document that shows that <strong>you have the money necessary for the golden visa investment at your disposal<\/strong>. The required sum will depend on the investment option you choose. The proof of funds will be relevant in the first stage of the application process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Hungarian Golden Visa Program, you can acquire Hungarian residency for 10 years in 3 stages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Apply for the guest investor visa<\/strong>: This is a visa valid for 6 months, which will let you enter Hungary to make your investment. For the visa application, you will need a <strong>proof of funds<\/strong> to show you have the means to make your chosen type of investment, and a declaration that you fully intend to make that investment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Come to Hungary<\/strong>: With your guest investor visa, you can travel to Hungarian and make the investment. You will receive an <strong>investment certificate<\/strong>, which you will need to submit with your residency application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apply for the guest investor residence permit<\/strong>: Now that you have your <strong>investment certificate<\/strong>, you can apply for your residence permit, together with your whole family. The permit will be valid for 10 years, and upon expiry you will be able to extend it for another 10 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What kinds of documents can I use as proof of funds?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A proof of funds is typically issued by your bank. Since banks are institutions of high credibility, documents issued by them are accepted as valid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proof of funds usually has to verify not only that you <strong>own those funds<\/strong>, but that they are <strong>readily accessible<\/strong> to you. Some typical examples include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Banks statements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investment account statements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Balance certificates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Letters from financial institutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preventing money laundering<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When asking for your proof of funds, the Immigration Office has to <strong>make sure you have acquired those funds by legal means<\/strong>.
