Each permit should clearly indicate whether it is a residence permit or a permanent residence permit, and whether it was issued based on family unification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some old permits do not meet these criteria, and as such, they will <a href=\"https:\/\/oif.gov.hu\/news\/information-for-holders-of-permanent-residence-cards-issued-between-august-3-2016-and-august-2-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lose their validity on August 3, 2026<\/a>. <strong>Holders of concerned residence permits were supposed to receive a letter<\/strong> to their Hungarian registered address with instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is this relevant to?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have not yet received a letter from the Immigration Office on this topic, this might still be relevant to you if you are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>a family member of an EEA citizen<\/strong>, OR<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>a third-country national family member of a Hungarian citizen<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Third-country national means that you are not a national of an EU or EEA country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong><em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ed184a\" class=\"has-inline-color\">No one else is affected by the new provision.<\/mark><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check your residence permit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have <a href=\"https:\/\/helpers.hu\/fa\/%d8%a7%d9%82%d8%a7%d9%85%d8%aa-%d9%85%d8%ac%d8%a7%d8%b1%d8%b3%d8%aa%d8%a7%d9%86\/permanent-residency-in-hungary-from-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">permanent residency<\/a> based on family unification, check your residence permit. Is it a <strong>laminated card<\/strong>? Was it <strong>issued between August 3, 2016 and August 2, 2021<\/strong>?
