If you are not sure,\njust ask for a \u201ctax residency certificate\u201d from the Hungarian tax authority.\nSimilarly, if you are a tax resident of another country, the local tax\nauthority can confirm this with a certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My tax residency and my Hungarian company<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your tax residency will need to be considered when you want to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"take a dividend from your Hungarian company (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/helpers.hu\/ru\/%d0%b1%d1%83%d1%85%d0%b3%d0%b0%d0%bb%d1%82%d0%b5%d1%80%d0%b8%d1%8f-%d0%b8-%d1%84%d0%b8%d0%bd%d0%b0%d0%bd%d1%81%d1%8b\/can-get-dividend-payment-hungarian-company\/\" target=\"_blank\">take a dividend from your Hungarian company<\/a>. The most important forms of tax you will probably be required to pay are the income tax and the social contribution tax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paying income tax when taking dividend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Income tax in Hungary is 15% in 2019. If you are a tax resident only in\nHungary, you will be required to pay income tax in Hungary \u2013 including after\nthe dividend you take from your company. If you are not or not only a tax\nresident in Hungary, double taxation treaties (tax treaties to avoid double taxation)between\nyour (other) country of residence must be checked. These agreements may grant\ntotal exemption or a reduced tax liability (e.g. 10% tax instead of 15%). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to get total or partial exemption from paying income tax in\nHungary, you must acquire a tax residence certificate from the tax authority of\nyour country of tax residence. Based on that and the double taxation treaties, you\nmight be required to pay income tax in Hungary in full, partially or not at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paying social contribution tax when taking dividend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The social contribution tax in Hungary is 13% as of 1 January 2022. Whether you must pay the social contribution tax depends not strictly on tax residency, but on the following: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. You are to pay the social contribution tax if you have a registered\naddress in Hungary, if you are a Hungarian citizen, you are an immigrant in\nHungary, you have permanent residency, or you are recognized as a refugee; OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. You are to pay the social contribution tax if you are an EU citizen who\nspends more than 3 months in Hungary each year and therefore has registered themselves\nin Hungary (holds a registered address in Hungary); OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.
