Community Budget in Budapest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Urban development is mostly planned, debated, and decided by the local government of Budapest. The Community Budget project<\/strong> was created to get the public more involved in these processes by letting people vote on projects they want to see implemented the most<\/strong>. Since 2020, the local government organizes this much like a contest, and this year HUF 1 billion (ca. EUR 2.5 million) will be distributed among the winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can cast your vote at <\/strong>https:\/\/otlet.budapest.hu<\/strong><\/a> after registration<\/strong> (you only need to provide an email address and your postal code) until September 30, 2025<\/strong>. The website is written in Hungarian, but an automatic English translation<\/strong> is available if you click the language switcher in the top right corner. The translation is not perfect (some place names are translated as if they were common nouns), but it is functional. Additionally, you can also cast your vote at any branch office of the Metropolitan Library network (F\u0151v\u00e1rosi Szab\u00f3 Ervin K\u00f6nyt\u00e1r)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you register, you can also enter a prize draw<\/strong> and win interesting prizes, such as tickets to theaters, museums, or spas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who can vote?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Anyone can vote on the Community Budget who lives, works, or studies in Budapest. You do not need an address card or any special document to prove this; just indicate your Budapest postal code when you register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Budget categories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are 5 project categories in the Community Budget project. You have 15 votes altogether, and you can cast 3 votes in each category<\/strong>. The plans that get the most votes will be realized by the local government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
