Is the European Union the United States of Europe?

British citizenship means EU citizenship just as much as German citizenship or Bulgarian citizenship – or Hungarian citizenship, for that matter. It is also good to know there is absolutely no difference between the citizenships of the different member states. If you are a citizen of any member state of the EU, you are an EU citizen, and that’s it.

Does any European citizenship qualify me as an EU citizen?

It is also important to know that not any European citizenship qualifies as EU citizenship, because Europe – in a geographical sense – is largely different from the EU. There are several European countries which are not EU member states, like Ukraine, Russia, Belorussia, Moldova or Bosnia–Herzegovina.
