Holidays and Christmas charity at Helpers 2025

2025 has been an eventful year here at Helpers. We celebrated our 20th anniversary, and we have launched our third thematic website that displays our updated design (helpersfinance.hu) to provide our clients a more uniform experience when browsing our services. In Hungary, December is also the season for holiday preparations – and holidays, of course, when you can ideally take time off from work, spend time with friends and family, and reflect on the year past and the year to come. We hope you will also get some rest to yourself.

Holidays at Helpers

After all the hard work throughout the year, the Helpers Team is going to be on holiday between Christmas and New Year, and the office is closing.

  • Last day of work in 2025: December 23, Tuesday
  • First day of work in 2026: January 5, Monday

However, please feel free to send us a message even while we are on holiday. We will get back to you first thing in January.

Christmas charity drive 2025

Christmas is the time for giving. In line with this, in December we always support a cause that is important to us. In line with this, we have raised and donated funds for the Suhanj! Foundation’s blind runners and handbike athletes to travel to the NYC marathon, or dedicated our Christmas party to fund the Budapest Bike Maffia’s Vitamin Commando for a year. We have bought heated dog houses for the Noé Foundation, run Santa Runs with kids from Bag in support of Bagázs. On various occasions we have also supported NGO’s working in our field, such as Menedék. This year, we helped BBM translate the subtitles for their latest documentary that provides a glimpse into the life of 10 people living at homeless shelters.

Additionally, we are again celebrating Christmas with donations to various NGOs chosen by our staff, made jointly by Helpers Hungary and our subsidiary, Helpers Finance. These organizations are as diverse as our colleagues, supporting people in need, sick children, or abused animals. Take a look at the associations selected in 2025, and see if either of them moves your heart. If your Hungarian company makes a donation to an NGO with a “public benefit purpose”, you may even decrease your tax base (more about this below the list).

Health and critical care

At Helpers Hungary, we believe that everyone deserves comfort, dignity, and a fair chance at recovery – no matter how serious their condition is. Healthcare is not just a medical mission; it is a deeply human one. That’s why each year our colleagues choose to support organizations that stand beside families in their most difficult moments, offering care that goes far beyond treatment.

Heim Pál Gyermekkórház Fejlesztéséért Alapítvány (Foundation for the development of Heim Pál Children’s Hospital)

Heim Pál Hospital is one of Hungary’s most important children’s hospitals. The foundation works on modernizing its services. Its projects improve diagnostic tools, patient comfort, and the overall healing environment.

Őrzők Alapítvány (“Guardians” Foundation for the development of the Children’s Hospital in Tűzoltó street)

The hospital in Tűzoltó Street supports children undergoing cancer treatment by funding equipment, therapies, and family services. Its goal is to make hospital stays more humane and give families strength through community.

Cisztás Fibrózis Betegek Egyesülete (Association of Cystic Fibrosis Patients)

Cystic fibrosis is a congenital condition affecting the respiratory system. The association offers support, advocacy, and medical guidance for people living with cystic fibrosis. They help families navigate complex treatments and raise awareness for better long-term care.

Magyar Hospice Alapítvány (Hungarian Hospice Foundation)

Hospice is about providing compassionate, holistic care for terminally ill people and their families. The work of the Foundation ensures dignity, pain relief, and emotional support throughout the most difficult phases of life.

Social support and poverty relief

We know that a strong society is built on how we care for those who face the toughest struggles. Poverty, homelessness, and social exclusion can happen to anyone, and no one should have to navigate these challenges alone. Each year, our colleagues carefully select NGOs that restore stability, dignity, and hope – one family, one person, one act of support at a time.

Oltalom Karitatív Egyesület (“Auspices” Charitable Association)

The organization provides shelter, meals, healthcare, and long-term support for people in crisis. Their mission is to create stability and pathways toward independence.

Katolikus Karitász (Catholic Caritas)

Connected to the Catholic Church of Hungary, this charity offers nationwide assistance to families in need, including food aid, emergency relief, and social services. Their volunteer-driven approach ensures help reaches communities quickly and compassionately.

Adománytaxi Alapítvány (“Charity Taxi” Foundation)

The Charity Taxi connects people who want to donate with families who need support – literally delivering help door-to-door. Its model empowers communities and reduces waste through responsible giving.

Várva Várt Alapítvány (“Much awaited” Foundation)

Unplanned children still deserve to be raised in loving families. The foundation provides financial, material, and emotional support to families and single mothers so they can raise their children without feeling they are taking on a burden. It also promotes planned parenthood and facilitates adoption.

Animal welfare and protection

At Helpers Hungary, we believe in standing up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Every year, our colleagues choose the NGOs we support, and this time they selected organizations that rescue, shelter, and protect animals across Hungary.

Cica-Vár-Lak Alapítvány (Kitty Castle Foundation)

The name of the foundation is a pun on castle and on “I am waiting for you”. The members organize foster homes and medical care for abandoned and injured cats, working tirelessly to find loving, permanent homes for their charges.

Magyar Állatvédő és Természetbarát Szövetség (Hungarian Society for Animal Protection and Nature Conservation)

The organization supports various shelters with food and financing while it also advocates for nationwide animal protection and responsible pet ownership. They also promote environmental awareness and nature conservation.

Pomázi Állatvédő és Állatsegítő Egyesület (Society for Animal Protection in Pomáz)

Operating in Pomáz (just north of Budapest), this society rescues animals in distress and offers rehabilitation for those who have suffered abuse or neglect. Their community-centered approach creates lasting change in local animal welfare.

Noé Állatotthon Alapítvány (Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter Foundation)

As one of Hungary’s largest shelters, Noé offers lifelong care for animals who may never be adopted. Their mission emphasizes compassion, rehabilitation, and responsible guardianship.

Child protection, education & empowerment

At Helpers Hungary, we see children as the foundation of a better future – one built on safety, opportunity, and self-expression. Protecting children’s rights and supporting their development is a responsibility shared by all of us. That’s why each year our colleagues choose NGOs that help young people grow with confidence, learn without fear, and discover their own potential.

Hintalovon Gyermekjogi Alapítvány (Hintalovon Child Rights Foundation)

The “Rocking Horse” Foundation champions children’s rights through education, advocacy, and professional guidance targeting mostly parents and institutions. Its objective is to ensure that young people are heard, protected, and treated with respect.

Igazgyöngy Alapítvány (“Real Pearl” Foundation)

Operating in Eastern Hungary, the foundation supports children and families in disadvantaged communities through education, art, and social programs. Their holistic model strengthens entire communities and fosters long-term opportunities.

Art-ravaló (Art for Takeaway)

This project helps vulnerable young adults build confidence, life skills, and community through performing arts. Their programs provide a safe space for self-expression and future-focused development.

Belvárosi Tanoda Alapítvány (Foundation for the “School in the City Center”)

This school supports struggling teenagers who have dropped out of school or lost direction. Through personalized education and mentoring, it helps young people regain confidence and find new opportunities.

Gyermekhíd Alapítvány (“A Bridge for Children” Foundation)

This charity provides emotional and therapeutic support to children placed in foster care due to abuse or neglect. With trauma-informed care and therapy, they help these children process their past and embrace a hopeful future.

Women’s rights, accessibility, inclusion

At Helpers Hungary, we believe that a truly fair society is one where everyone can live safely, participate fully, and be treated with respect. Protecting women from violence, advocating for equality, and ensuring accessibility for all are essential steps toward that vision. Each year, our colleagues select NGOs whose work brings us closer to a more inclusive, just, and humane Hungary.

Nők a Nőkért Együtt az Erőszak Ellen Egyesület (Women for Women Together Against Violence Association, NANE)

NANE offers support for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, including counseling and helplines. Their work raises awareness and promotes prevention across the country.

Háttér Társaság (“Background” Háttér Society)

This is Hungary’s leading LGBTQ+ organization, providing legal aid, mental health support, and community programs. They work to build a society where everyone can live freely and safely.

Magyar Vakok és Gyengénlátók Országos Szövetsége (Hungarian Federation of the Blind and Partially Sighted)

This organization advocates for accessibility, inclusion, and equal rights for people living with visual impairment. Their services – from training to assistive tools – help individuals live independently and confidently.

Being charitable is good for your company

Apart from giving back to the community through your CSR activities, donating to NGOs can help your company by reducing the corporate tax base.

  • If it is a single donation, the corporate tax base is reduced by 20% of the donation.
  • If it is a regular donation with a contract, the yearly corporate tax base is reduced by 40% of the yearly donation.

You just need a verification from the NGO that they operate “for the benefit of the public” (meaning they are a “közhasznú szervezet”). Consult your accountant.

Give back to the community, and make a Christmas donation this year
