The new parliament has come into session

On May 9, last Saturday, the new parliament came into session with the representatives elected in the general elections of April 12, 2026. Péter Magyar, leader of TISZA Party, was inaugurated as Prime Minister the same day, and the new government is expected to form this week. The first resolutions are already issued, and the hearing of ministers-to-be is currently underway.

On Saturday, the first session of the new parliament was welcomed by several celebrations, including speeches in front of the Parliament, attended by more than a hundred thousand people. The Kossuth Square event then turned into a huge party that lasted late into the night.

EU flag on the parliament

One of the first actions of the newly elected Speaker of the House was to reinstate the flag of the European Union on the Parliament building. This step symbolizes Hungary’s renewed commitment to EU values, and the resolution to work more closely with EU institutions in the future.

Strengthening ties with the EU is great news for anyone looking to set up a business to trade in the EU or get residency here. It confirms that Hungary is an excellent gateway to the EU with its easy company setup scheme. Additionally, EU INC, a new company form is being developed by the member states which will grant European businesses easier access the European single market and its 450 million customers.
