Hungary Increases Investment Threshold

Hungarian Parliament has debated for some time to raise the investment threshold for the Hungarian Residency Bond program. On December 16, 2014, the proposal was accepted, meaning that the face values of the five-year investment, through which investors can get a permanent resident permit for themselves and their families will be raised from the former EUR 250,000 to EUR 300,000. This change will come in effect on January 1, 2015.

Hungarian Parliament has debated for some time to raise the investment threshold for the Hungarian Residency Bond program. This change will come in effect on January 1, 2015.

At the same time, the government processing fee for this immigration investment program will also be raised from EUR 40,000 to EUR 55,000 – EUR 65,000, depending on the size of the family and related due diligence fees. It remains to cover all expenses related to the investment, such as the fees for lawyers, the translations of documents, liaising with the investment company and, of course, the application for the permanent resident permits for the investors and their families.

It is important to note that residents who are not citizens of the country they are applying from should have at least one year of residency there in order to be eligible to apply.
