December 19, 2016

In Hungary, children usually start school at the age of 6, and continue until the age of 18. Budapest offers several educational opportunities for non-Hungarian children of all ages, mostly in English, French, German, as well as some other languages. We present primary and secondary schools (also called general education) here; please refer to this post for foreign-language university education.

The International School of Budapest is the largest English-Hungarian bilingual school in Hungary, offering English and bilingual Hungarian-English programs according to the Cambridge International Curriculum, an international curriculum combining the requirements of the English National Curriculum and the Hungarian National Curriculum.

The SEK Budapest International School offers a bilingual Hungarian-English curriculum with an international attitude. It is part of a network running schools in the United Kingdom, the United States and South Africa as well. Students are required to wear a uniform, which can be purchased at the school’s store.
